About your trainer

Matthew is a passionate, approachable, and highly skilled psychotherapist with extensive experience. As a Senior EMDR Europe Accredited Trainer and Consultant, as well as a Specialist Advisor to The Board of the UK EMDR Association, Matthew’s teaching style is both engaging and easy to connect with. His ability to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world clinical cases makes his workshops highly effective and relatable.

With over 20 years of experience in mental health across diverse settings—including the NHS, defence industry, and private practice - Matthew brings a wealth of expertise. He specializes in trauma and PTSD, drawing from his 21-year military career, which includes service in both the UK and combat zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

In addition to his role as a Senior EMDR Trainer, Matthew is also a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. He is a respected supervisor, presenter, and author, with multiple articles published in peer-reviewed journals on EMDR and CBT. He has also presented his work at prestigious international conferences, further cementing his expertise in psychotherapy and health promotion.
